The neighbourhood sits between the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, and Rome’s massive Termini station. Cobblestone narrow alleys with trattorias and cocktail bars, tiny squares with pastry shops and vintage clothes shops, underground archaeological sites, stunning churches with beautiful artistic treasures as wall mosaics and frescoes covering a huge time frame from the 5th century to the end of the 13th century . You will begin from the Basilica of St. Prassede, famous for its brilliant 9th centuries mosaics and the evocative chapel of St. Zenone, defined by the ancients “Hortus Paradisi” (Garden of Heaven) for the gold profusion that cover the whole room bestowing on it an “oriental” appearance. Sylvester and Martin, where is possible to visit an underground archaeological area which is a classic example of stratification of buildings that took place over time.
